What does an embodied translation look like, sound like, speak like, taste like? How does language permeate and take new form and new shape juxtaposed against time and space? This is Ahlan Club; a Dinner Theater. A moment suspended in time where poetry marks the menu and gestures towards a choreographed writing and culinary ritualistic performance. It is all an act of translation; it’s all a gesturing towards the speculative. 

Ahlan Club meets at the intersection of performance, culinary arts, poetry and prose, and its translations.  At its core, it’s a Dinner Theater; a speculative space guided by a culinary and poetic intervention. 

Beyond spectacle, Ahlan Club’s mission is to both imaginatively and robustly experiment, expand, and nurture our experiences and histories relating to gesture, language, and food. What unfurls under the pretext of the ephemerality of performance or spectacle, does not end there. We are committed to not only platforming a collaborative spirit of communal gathering but we also seriously consider and endorse alternative and accessible archival frameworks. Each spectacle is archived through a soundscape and a visual archive as a further iterative translation that is available to stream or view from anywhere. For the record’s sake, let it be known: we will translate it all.
